Fundraising Dinner

Christmas In July 2007

The major fundraising event for the Mary MacKillop Foundation, Christmas in July, was held on Friday July 13th in the Isabel Menton Theatre at Mary MacKillop Place.

The evening was a great success with over 140 people attending including many Sisters from around NSW with their families and friends. Thanks to the generosity of our guests and sponsors we were able to raise a substantial amount for the continuing work of the Foundation.

Master of Ceremonies, Leo McLeay, made the night a happy one for all and our special Guest Speaker, Maxine McKew, entertained us with stories of her mother’s devotion to Mary MacKillop. Ms McKew spoke eloquently about the need for organizations like the Mary MacKillop Foundation to help those who slip through the cracks of  society.

Sr Pat Malone spoke of the many projects supported by the Foundation and guests were able to see photos of the work of the Foundation in action thanks to a continuous slideshow throughout the night.

Guests were entertained by the wonderful Jazz Quarter “On Four” and enjoyed a traditional Christmas dinner complete with plum pudding and white Christmas. Wines from Sevenhill Cellars in South Australia accompanied the meal.

A live auction attracted great attention with bidding on a signed, framed Michael Hussey cricket shirt from the 2007 Ashes series and a package of dinner at the world renowned Guillaume at Bennelong restaurant, accommodation at the Amora Hotel and tickets to the Australian Chamber Orchestra. Many happy guests went home with wonderful prizes from our raffle.

The Foundation is grateful for the support of our major sponsors Goldman Sachs JB Were, Investa Commercial Developments and Delphi Financial.

We would also like to thank Bankers Trust Financial Group and Jones Lang Ls Salle for their support. Our evening would not have been possible without the generosity of businesses who donated goods or services for our raffle and auction.

Thank you to all who participated and we hope to see you again next year.
