The Mary MacKillop Foundation provides financial support for small life changing projects selected according to strict funding guidelines.
One of the main purposes of the Mary MacKillop Foundation is to enable work in the spirit and tradition of Mary MacKillop to continue. For this reason the Foundation seeks applications from individuals or organisations that are carrying out such work. There are two kinds of projects that the Mary MacKillop Foundation supports:
General Projects
Projects in partnership with Aboriginal Australians
General Projects
The Mary MacKillop Foundation distributes grants once a year in August for general projects throughout Australia. The closing date for applications for General Project is 30th June each year. The Application Form requires two endorsements from Sisters of St Joseph or Josephite Associate before it can be considered. This endorsement informs the General Projects Review & Evaluation Committee that the proposed project is in keeping with the spirit and vision of Mary MacKillop.
Projects in partnership with Aboriginal Australians
The Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Projects Review & Evaluation Committee of the Board considers applications for projects twice a year: 28th February and 31st July. The application must be endorsed by both a member of the Aboriginal community involved in the project and a Sister of St Joseph or Josephite Associate, before it is returned to the Foundation office for approval. This endorsement is to reflect the partnership nature of the project and to ensure it is in keeping with the spirit and vision of Mary MacKillop.
