From 1995 to 2009, the Mary MacKillop Foundation has supported over 240 small life changing projects.

Here are some of the projects the Mary MacKillop Foundation will be supporting in the 2009 and 2010 financial year. The projects are all across Australia, responding to the needs of rural and isolated communities, indigenous groups, people with disabilities and those forgotten by society.

We invite you, your business, school or organisation to adopt a project, contribute the full amount of the project or just donate toward one that you feel is meaningful to you.

aboriginal & torres strait islander tertiary scholarships

Mary MacKillop's concern for the welfare of Aboriginal people, particularly in relation to education for Aboriginal children is well documented. Indeed, her commitment to the welfare and education of indigenous children sets an inspiring example.

One way the Mary MacKillop Foundation aims to honour this commitment is through scholarship funding for Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Tertiary students who are studying full time at Australian universities.

Tertiary education is particularly important to Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander students. Knowledge gained can initiate reconciliation and bring changes at all levels of the Australian community. Some dream of acquiring their first degree in an environment close to home, then moving to the city to acquire a postgraduate degree so they can move into prominent positions in society. Others live and study in the city where they give back to their communities. Without doubt, education and skills equip students to make a big difference to their people's lives and ultimately the lives of all Australians.
